The hospital pharmacy robot
The Albert Schweitzer medical center in Zwijndrecht is introducing one of the latest automated medication dispensing system. The robot prevents medication errors, reduces pharmacy labor, and lowers drug inventory. The hospital pharmacy robot automates medication storage, selection, return, restock, and crediting functions for 90 percent or more of a hospital’s daily medication volume. Worked on this infographic project in collaboration with Linsen Communicatie.

Spellbound-lezing: To design a story
Op de 51ste editie van Spellbound (dinsdag 8 juni 2010) in Pakhuis de Zwijger (Amsterdam), spreekt Frédérik Ruys. De avond staat in het teken van infographics en draagt als titel: 'To design a story...'.
We laten ons dagelijks overspoelen door nieuws uit alle mogelijke kanalen. Toch gebeurt het dat we van belangrijke informatie kunnen worden buitengesloten. Bijvoorbeeld omdat jargon wordt toegepast, of juridische breedspraak. De kredietcrisis is een actueel voorbeeld hoe desastreus de gevolgen van miscommunicatie en desinformatie kunnen zijn.

The New York Times declared the last week of october as the Infographics Week on The Learning Network: "Because we know how important it is for students to be able to read and interpret visual representations of information — and because The New York Times consistently creates useful and elegant examples that we think teachers across the curriculum should know about."

BNO-NVJ Infographic Jaarprijs 2009
De BNO / NVJ Jaarprijs is op 5 maart 2010 uitgereikt door John Grimwade aan Frédérik Ruys voor zijn infographic 'Hoe de kredietcrisis de beurs besmette' (voor het Financieele Dagblad).
Frédérik ontving de prijs uit handen van zijn grote voorbeeld John Grimwade, na afloop van het infographics congres in hotel theater Figi Zeist. De vakjury van de jaarprijs, die verder helemaal losstaat van het congres, was onder de indruk van de vernieuwende vorm van de infographic. Voor netbeheerder TenneT visualiseerde Frédérik belangrijke aandachtspunten rond de vakwerkmasten, zoals de magneetvelden onder hoogspanningslijnen.

Met de introductie van de Sony E-reader startte bol.com ook de verkoop van digitale boeken. Om het proces van elektronische inkt toe te lichten, maakte Frédérik in 2009 met Norman Thomas (Content & CRM Creative Bol.com) een interactieve infographic.

The horizon chart appeared to be the most effective way to visualize the dropping of stocks on the Amsterdam Exchange from January 2007 to December 2008. All funds - without exception - turned red. Especially the informative labels on the charts, highlighting crucial moments in the financial crisis, changed the datavisualisation into an information graphic. Designed by Frédérik Ruys, published in Het Financieele Dagblad on december 20th, 2008.
As the visualisation method needed some explanation to a broader audience than just the readers of the Dutch newspaper, I made the explanation above.
